Imaginery Interview with Shivraj Patil

Imaginery Interview with Shivraj Patil, Home Minister, India

Coffee Break

Journalist: Sir., people are disturbed by recent bomb blasts. What is your reaction?

Shivraj Patil: It is very sad to find people standing by or near the bombs. Entire police force is wondering how people are crowding near bombs without any sense ! We are working on crowd psychology.

Journalist: Sir., pls elaborate...

Shivraj patil: People should stay away from crowded places and spend their week ends in home with family, children. What is there to shop on every week end? People should save money instead of spending. It is good for future.

Journalist: This is a very bold comment Sir... any more views?

Shivraj Patil: People should understand that police cannot protect each and every one. 25% of Police force is busy in protectiog ministers and other officials. Another 25% is busy in investigating the existing cases. 10% would be protecting the police stations from naxals, terrorists. 5% of force would be on leave and 10% of force would be attending every day ad hoc work. So only 25% of force is left with. So, i request the citizens to be responsible for themselves.

Journalist: Sir., we have understood the point. Why did you change your dress three times during the Delhi blast?

Shivraj Patil: I am a cabinet minister and I should look good. Instruction is clearly given by Soniaji to dress nicely. Only Lalooji is given exception. Thats why i changed my dress thrice. I got a feedback from people across the world that my attitude and dress colors gave comfort to them.

Journalist: Thank you sir for your time...

Note: Minister withdraws his comments "as quoted out of context" after lot of protest from people !!! in 6 hours gap.

Mark Faber's comments on US Economy

Marc Faber comments on US economy -

Dr. Marc Faber concluded his monthly bulletin (June 2008) with the
Following:

''The federal government is sending each of us a $600 rebate. If we
spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money goes to China . If we spend it on
gasoline it goes to the Arabs. If we buy a computer /software it will go
to India . If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico , Honduras and
Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Germany . If we
purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the
American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to
spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products
still produced in US. I've been doing my part.'

Financial Tsunami

Financial Tsunami struck USA and swallowed some big giants. Summary of it goes like this:

Epic Center: USA
When: First sighted in Oct 2007, came back with vengence in Sep 2008
Aftershocks: All over the world
Who created it: Greedy, qualified MBAs
Who nurtured it: Rogue CEOs
Who monitored it: SEC without understanding what the hell was going on
Who lost heavily: Investors, Taxpayers, 401(k)
Irony 1: Hedging instruments no longer hedged risk
Irony 2: AIG insurance didnt insure itself
Irony 3: Short Sellers were blamed as "raiders"
US Fed: Ended up buying trillions of bad assets (read as bull shit) with tax payer's money expecting it to become a great Italian Dish in near future

Outlook: Live and get used to problems for next 12 months for sure. No immediate solution in sight

Australia's Cricket Tour to India in October 2008

Australia's Cricket Tour to India in October 2008

Austraia should not visit India to play cricket in September 2008. Security situation remains a concern and it can not be dismissed simply.

Terror strikes in India rapidly raising and caused hundreds of deaths in the recent past. If Pakistan tour can be skipped for security reason, India is no different. Democracy cannot be the single differential factor... by the same argument... Pakistan could have also provided enough security like China did.

India and Pakistan would be worse in law and order situation among the cricket playing countries - Bangladesh, Zimbabwe does not come under scrutiny whereas Sri Lanka's case is completely different.

Indians should protest against government if Australians get extra or special security. Resident Indians do not experience the quality of life why should the Ministers / politicians or foreigners should get the special, secured treatment?

If at all the tour proceeds, the sole reason could be attibuted as " financial consideration"; Sincere Indians must ignore this tour for the ill treatment they receive as the first citizen of this country.

US Election Run-Up

VP candidates were announced a fortnight ago. I feel finally, the tide turned to Obama's favour than McCain.

Palin's selection adds masala to the race but i dont think it would bring too many votes alongwith it. Let us see how dirty it can get in the final lap.

McCain unfortunately carries dirty baggage of Bush and it would be really historic if he manages to win the election despite huge "anti incumbency" factor.
