IPL Season 2

Good to see a fine tournament organised at short notice by South African officials after the BCCI request. The response from the south african community was fantastic.

Rab Ne Banaya Jodi - Shah Rukh, Preeti, Shilpa's team failed. They were inconsistent throughout.

The shocking development of this tournament was Dhoni - he was clueless, failed to scale up, did not try something new (jakati's inclusion was the only exception), lacklustre in semis !

The commentators were a joke throughout - Sunil Gavaskar predicted in semis, finals -that the team batting first has advantage - his strike rate was 1:3 in the end !!!

Who could have predicted the last years bottom teams would be in finals ! But one thing was visible - It was Aussie's aggression, power, innovation, self belief all the way which brought the Cup...like last year.

My trichy trip

I went to attend Upanayanam function to Trichy. It was quite a short trip. We (me and my eldest brother) started off on Tuesday morning in Swift Dezire around 11am and reached Trichy around 5pm.

Diesel car responded reasonably well and it gave the best overtaking result in 4th gear when compared to 5th gear.

It was nice to catch up with relatives after a long long time. I didnt go to trichy for more than 8 years and it is one of the places i am in real love with. Sad, i could not spend some time to roam around.

I liked the roads laid in the last 7 years. It was a excellent journey barring the Ulundurpettai stretch.

Do catch up with some of the photos in

Sensex outlook - may 2009

Sensex is poised to touch 14500 in this stable election result rally. Nifty might move in a broad range of 3600 to 4500 in near future. Disinvestment, budget, reforms might decide the short term movement.

Any worsening of world economy, markets might catch up with us post our budget presentation as I dont believe in de-coupling of sensex from world trend.

Investors should book take profits at 4500 nifty levels.

UPA's Victory

UPA's Victory

UPA's victory is sweet and it is a vote for stability. Votes have carried out a silent revolution by giving a comfortable near half-way mark in parliament thereby silencing loud politicians like Laloo, Amar Singh, Mayawati. Rahul Gandhi's campaign also added strength and invited youth to vote. Congress must take positive steps on development, disinvestment. They must take steps to curb rising prices of commodities.

I will not be particularly happy if P.C gets Fin Ministry again !

BJP's defeat

BJP lost and they won 14 seats lesser than previously. Projection of Advani as PM candidate and bring-in of Modi in half-way resulted in apathy of BJP followers. BJP simply did not have alliances to give credible fight in half of states. Hence, the result is no surprise.

BJP should realise moral policing of Mutaliks would take the youth further away from BJP and focus on development.

DMK's Victory

One of the incredible campaigns of DMK - with out its leader, most of the work was done by Stalin, Azhagiri. This victory confirms the "leadership passage" to its dynasty and it was executed well. Second rank of DMK made sure PMK was routed. Power of money was visible and it was well spent as it fetched votes clearly across Tamil Nadu.

DMK's strength always made their cadres, followers vote without fail. This ensured the massive turn out and confused many. DMK must do something productive to solve the power crisis rather than distributing TVs.

Jaya's state

Jaya's fight was good, alliances was good in paper. But it did not translate into landslide victory despite anti-incumbency factor. That is because of opportunistic leaders of her partners and not because of her.

She should relax for now and see how to strengthen her party and rescue some voters from vijaykanth's party.

Voters

Thank you voters for routing Left, and creating a stable government. Trust you are sick and tired of the rise and rise of small parties. You must make yourselves present by casting a decisive verdict now and then. Otherwise, amar kathas would keep visiting us.

Media

Despite your best attempts of creating gossips, creating alliance stories, false media savvy leaders, air conditioned analysis - you could not influence the crores of voters. They voted nicely, they were not carried away. Your exit poll sample size is laughable but your story telling of the exit poll outcome was so decent. Carry on your tamasha, you are indispensable in 21st century.

Have you voted?

I just voted thereby executed my only democratic rights !!!

As usual, some teething issues were there, but i kept standing and the issue got resolved in 30m and we started voting.

Major power cut occurred in chennai yesterday from 8pm to 10.30pm and Electricity board called it as "Sabotage". For people of tamil nadu, 2 hour of unscheduled power cut is not sabotage and it is "usual" !!!
