US consumer confidence raised by .9% after a long long time and hence US stocks cheered it by raising the Dow by 230 points !!! Us stocks fall and rose sharply twice in July thereby creating enough confusion in the minds of investors about the future trend.
Indian stocks touched around 12000 Sensex levels and rebounded sharpy to 14000 due to the Manmohan government winning the vote of confidence. Commodities fell sharpy in July thereby majorly reversing their winning move through 2008.
I feel Dow has a life long major support around 10700 and it bounced back from 10800 levels to 11300 levels as of now. US markets has got 75% chance to bounce back from current levels for the rest of 2008. Any fresh, severe bad news can make the Dow to re-test 10500 levels which I would say with 25% chance.
As for as Sensex concerned, I feel anything above 15000 levels are overpriced - as inflation - 12%, IIP - 6%, interest rate - 12%. Hence, copying hongkong, Dow daily movements can only create further damage to the sensex over a period of time and I expect Sensex to retest 12500 levels over next two or three months. RNRL could surprise everyone with a strong bull rally.

AADI Shopping at Usman Road
AADI Shopping
We (my family) went for Aadi shopping - its more of ritual - as we didnt do shopping for the last 2 years, so planned lot of things this time. You get to read the tale now:
I generally buy once in July and keep shuffling through the year. For kids, we buy lots of quantity for a moderate price as they spoil the dress very fast.
Saravana Stores - Brammandamai:
We first went to Saravana Stores - Brammandamai by 9:15am and went to 7th floor and came walking down one after another floor ! The crowd was very limited and the staffs were kind of clearning / dusting / sweeping the floors. The entire place was changed by 10am as shoppers started thronging ! You buy and bill in one floor and leave it with guard on the another floor and so on....
Its a great shop, offers hell lot of varieties for every age and has stocks from Rs.10. Goods Arrangement / presentation is reasonably decent. Staffs help out a lot when in doubt. For a male kid, they had all kind of dress with spiderman, batman, power ranger stuffs; Wonderful collection of churidar materials;
Pothys: Goods arrangement / presentation is definitely below average here. Girls section offers the best variety. Gents section had soft a local clone variety jockey shorts which no other shop had for just Rs.70 and full pant for Rs.150 !
Chennai Silks: Goods arrangement / presentation is the best of three I visited. Staffs are very friendly here. We bought daily casual wear for children here. Delivery of good is completely different from other shop and efficient. This is the only shop which had floor plan, evacuation guide etc !!!
On Shoppers:
People are generally polite and on their own. Two things they can improve - avoid crowding near lift, looking / snatching the cloth which you have already filtering !

Serial Blast in Bangalore, Ahmedabad
Another week, another blast happened in Bangalore; by the time one tries to recover from the event, another serial blast happened in Ahmedabad.
Looks like Ahmedabad blast is keenly planned and executed similar to the one in Jaipur. Hence, we are at the mercy of terrorits rather than indian police.
State Governments should step up their activity to modernise the police force, equip them with CCTV cameras, phone monitoring and above all allow them to work independently to prevent crimes instead of forcing them to perform mundane activities.
I dont see any point in blaming central government - i also dont see any point when central agencies say that they have issued alert to various state - they are routine alerts - no value in them.
Above all, Congress simply does not want to deal with terrorism with iron hand and it is clearly visible in the unresolved terrorits cases & no single conviction happened so far ! They think blaming some Muslim organisation is their duty and thats the end of it !!!!!

UPA win the vote of confidence
Oh !!! What a drama !!! Similar to twists and turns of the hindi movie RACE :)
BJP is a loser in this whole as it clearly became an vote competition between Mayawati and Amar Singh. Eventually, Sinngh continued to remain king.
I am happy that UPA has won the confidence vote simply because nuclear deal should not be considered as an issue to bring any government down. Probaly, if congress would have done this entire exercise of taking house into confidence long time back... atleast the process would have been looked bit more elegant rather than wooing CPM alone !
Cash for vote episode brings back "punishment" to the focus. The law of the land should just remain in paper and it should be implemented.
The next revelation could be CNN-IBN's tapes on shady deals... Watch out for further amusement / entertainment.

Test cricket - July 2008
About Cricket
England is 146/5 in their second innings/second test and trail South Africa by 173 runs. I am very happy about the paper tiger's failure as i was aghast when SA failed in first innings of the first test. I sincerely feel that SA would take the series comfortably to their winning ways !
India would start the test series against Sri Lanka this week. I expect India to win the series and i will be greatly disappointed with any other result as Lankan team is depleted without Malinga and Mahroof; Murali is not taking wickets in recent past.
I dont give a great weightage to Mendis threat and i sincerely feel that it was just an odd day in Asia Cup finals. As every Indian cricket fan is aware, India would make one unknown guy famous in every tour (like Amla against Spin bowling recently).
Let us also hope that Sachin Tendulkar would surpass the maximum century record in the first test itself instead of making us to wait longer !

Germany Grand Prix - F1
Germany Grand Prix - F1
It turned out to be fine race finally. Hamilton's passion for winning was visible from Qualifying laps to final race. Three overtaking incidents of Hamilton proved how hungry he was about returning to winning ways!
Glock's accident was the only sore incident in the whole race. Nelson Piquet's podium finish was greeted well by Massa too.
Will Ferrari make a fierceful comeback?

Long Live Indian Democracy
Its perfectly clear now that SP cannot fulfil its promise of 39 votes on 22nd. All the high, plain talks of Amar Singh seems not working. Shibu Soren (JMM) with 5 MPs JDS with 2 MPs are likely to go for UPA.
But Congress would still find it difficult to meet the 271 mark and it looks like "absentism" might also play a good role in the proceedings.
MPs asked for what they want and they are likely to be greeted with money, power, ministry etc... The change is highly transparant this time than ever before.
Long live our democracy.
